Why HIDDEN

Since 2011, Frontiere News has published the work of over 300 journalists worldwide who have told stories from more than 120 countries.

A few months ago, in the midst of the pandemic, we polled our audience to find out what kind of stories they wished were featured in our magazine during 2021. A clear picture emerged: our readers expect us to address social injustices, tell stories of violated human rights and give voice to those whom the Covid crisis has put even more on the margins of society. We embrace this challenge.

As a result, and with the support of our donors, over the next months of 2021, Frontiere will publish ten investigative reports (you can support our ongoing crowdfunding campaign here). This series is titled Hidden; hidden are, indeed, those stories that hardly find any space in the mainstream media and whose publication could bring tangible change in society.

The goal we set ourselves is twofold: on the one hand, we want to bring out situations of inequality, violence, or corruption that create danger or vulnerability for individuals and communities; on the other hand, we want to support local independent journalism, which is fundamental yet often hindered.
